Important properties of Thermo Spruce tongue and groove board

  • This profile has a tongue and groove. The longitudinal sides are provided with a chamfered side. When pushed together, this creates a V-shaped groove. Other common names for this profile type are tongue-and-groove, tongue-and-groove boards, planed and plowed parts or roof boarding. Note: always install horizontally with the tongue upwards so that no water can run into the groove.
  • Working width: 135 mm
  • The planks are sorted on one visible side, the rear contains possibly some local planing errors, tire marks and/or roller marks.
  • The production reserves the right to deviate a maximum of 3-4% from the head size, in order to be able to plan a nice, straight and dimensionally stable product. In addition, humidity can affect the head size (dry and warm weather causes shrinkage).
  • We supply wood at trade length. This means: not sawn square and not shortened to length, often with some excess length.
  • Dry cracks can be seen on the short sides. Always calculate at least 10 cm extra sawing loss in length.
  • Correct installation is very important. Good ventilation, sufficient framing and correct fastening are required. Before you start, read our mounting tips and instructions carefully!

Sustainability:

EUTR: this product complies with the European Timber Regulation – 995/2010. This European regulation prohibits the marketing of illegally harvested wood. The party that first places the product on the European market has a duty of care to demonstrate that the product has not been illegally harvested or traded.

KD Humidity

This product is kiln dried before undergoing a heat treatment. This product has a more or less elaborated form.

S/F Grade

This product is S/F sorted. This means a saw-falling grade in which the lowest class (extra) is sorted out. This grade is the most common for European and Russian coniferous wood.

Thermo Pine

Thermo Pine is a popular choice in the wood market. You see this more and more as facade cladding or wall cladding. Pine comes from Europe or Northern Asia and has traditionally been a well-known softwood species. There are many different reasons why this wood is so popular after modification, but above all the durability, the relatively inexpensive purchase and the ease of assembly are decisive.

Because of the thermal treatment of Pine, the wood has less effect, it is harder and the weight is lower. The modification also makes the wood darker and less flexible. Thermo Grenen is made from a fast-growing type of wood, which reduces deforestation. An ecologically responsible choice. It is a good alternative to tropical hardwoods with a low durability class of 1-2. The original yellow-brown color will naturally gray over the years.

This type of wood has a busy pattern and many knots. This gives the Pine a rustic appearance.

Advantages

  • Shape stability is great, there is little or no effect of the wood
  • Perfect for facade cladding
  • Durability class 1-2
  • Warm appearance of the wood
  • Environmentally friendly alternative to tropical hardwood

< h4>Processing

This popular type of wood can easily be attached with stainless steel screws. We recommend that you always pre-drill the wood to prevent the risk of cracks and splitting. Do not use galvanized screws; these create black spots and streaks on the wood over time.

Note: Due to the heat treatment, the structural strength of the wood disappears. This makes the Thermo Grenen vulnerable to, for example, transport-related damage and tears. We therefore always recommend adding 10% wood to your order. This way you can be sure that you have enough material to work with.

What is tongue-and-groove?

Tongue-and-groove is a profile that gives Thermo Spruce facade cladding a solid appearance. It is a profile that has proven itself over the years. This profile has a chamfered side and a chamfered side, making it easy to slide into each other. A tongue and groove is also commonly referred to as a bevel siding. It is important that the tongue is always mounted upwards so that no water can enter the groove.
