EUTR: this product complies with the European Timber Regulation – 995/2010. This European regulation prohibits the marketing of illegally harvested wood. The party that first places the product on the European market has a duty of care to demonstrate that the product has not been illegally harvested or traded.
This product is machine dried back (kiln dried) to a moisture content that is in balance with the typical outdoor usage. Upon delivery, the product has a more or less elaborated shape and will mainly shrink or expand (provided assembling instructions are properly applied) depending on the weather conditions.
This product is S/F sorted. This means a saw-falling grade in which the lowest class (extra) is sorted out. This grade is the most common for European and Russian coniferous wood.
Accoya is a type of wood that does not visibly swell, shrink or deform in changing weather conditions. This wood species begins life as the fast-growing pine tree (Pinus radiata) and is grown in well-managed forests with responsible logging. After about 30 years, the trees are harvested and the wood then goes through an ultramodern and ecologically sound acetylation process.
This process, in which concentrated acetic acid is applied, ensures that the wood becomes extremely stable and completely resistant to fungi and other harmful microorganisms. Accoya has an exceptionally beautiful light color with a natural appearance and ages over the years. The wood is extremely durable and resistant to all weather conditions. No toxic substances are used during the modification of the wood.
The wood has been treated to the core and is therefore more resistant to fungi and moss growth. The modification process results in the modified Accoya having durability class 1. Accoya is therefore ideal for decking, facade and wall cladding. Accoya exceeds the durability and stability of the very best tropical hardwoods. They don't call Accoya the leading wood species on the market for nothing.
Accoya can be attached using stainless steel screws or coated fasteners. We recommend that you always pre-drill the wood. This prevents the chance of splitting. Do not use galvanized screws, they will create black spots and streaks on the wood over time. Because Accoya is drier than other types of wood, it is possible to glue this type of wood. Choose a type of glue of PU, Epoxy or PRF for this.
Note: Deep milling, sawing lengthwise or sawing again can expose tensions. These stresses may have arisen during drying and processing. This is one of the reasons why we recommend adding 10% wood to your order. This way you can be sure that you have enough material to work with.
